Conifur (https://www.conifur.in) based in Surat are a well-known design house for furniture, and work on wide range of materials from wood to metal. For a leading multinational company, they wanted to create a unique furniture design that was not only elegant but also comfortable for office use.

Looking at the thermoforming ability and the durability of RelWood™, they decided to give it a shot. They used RelWood™ to make the back rest and arm rest of the chair from a single piece of the UPB sheet as seen in the picture below. M/s Shankar Vijay Trading, (https://www.shankarvijaytrading.com), a 60 year old company dealing in wood and related materials undertook the fabrication of the chairs. After cutting the shape on 18 mm RelWood™ sheets on CNC machine it was heated and thermoformed (the thermoforming video is also provided below). These thermoformed pieces were further coated and assembled into the chair giving us the final product as shown in the images below.

The designer Mr. Bhargav Sheladiya from Conifur approved of the material and said, “This is a great alternative to other materials we were using. Bending and creating designs is very easy and fast and now even creating exterior furniture is so much simpler.”
